Greetings from the CMCC Office.

Here are the upcoming events at CMCC.

Move Back to First Thai Church: Next Sunday May 2nd

We are looking forward to returning to First Thai Church from Sunday May 2nd. The renovations are now complete! The roof has been insulated and new vents are in place. So we expect a certain increased coolness. As part of the renovation process, LCD projection and screens have been installed. And there is a new sound system. We are very grateful to First Thai Church for this work and look forward to serving our community together from these improved facilities. We are also very grateful to CMIS for our use of their premises these last four months.

We look forward to seeing you there!

THE JOURNEY BEGINS: Acts 1 and 2:1-41

Sermon Date:  11 April 2010

Chiangmai Community Church

  1. I. INTRO: The Book of Acts
    1. The book of Acts was written by Luke, a doctor and a Gentile.  Acts is a sequel to Luke’s Gospel.
    2. The book is written to Theophilus, a name meaning “one who loves God.”  Was Theophilus an individual or a symbolic name for all who love God?  Was he a patron (major donor!) who financed Luke’s writing?  Was he a Roman acquaintance who was interested to learn more about this new Christian faith?  Those are all possibilities.
    3. Luke probably wrote the book of Acts sometime between 63 and 70 AD, just 30-40 years after Jesus walked this earth.
    4. Part 1 (Chapters 1-12) talk about the establishment and expansion of the Church and the ministry of Peter,
    5. Part 2 (Chapters 13-28) is about the conversion and missionary journeys of Paul.
    6. Acts 29 – and this is a shameless plug – a TV show produced by CBN Siam (also the ongoing story of the Church through the ages!)

Good Friday Tenebrae Reflections

Author CMCC | 09.04.2010 | Category Events

On Easter Friday evening each year, CMCC runs a Tenebrae Service in the Hamlin Chapel at McGilvary College of Divinity. This is a reflective service, held with subdued lighting and quietness and follows the events of Easter from the Passover Meal to the burial of Jesus.

This year, a number of our church members contributed reflections.  This link gives you the opportunity to read these and absorb the insights more fully.

READ ISAIAH 61:1-3

When Jesus began his ministry on earth he used these verses from Isaiah 61 to describe his mission.

He said, I have come:

  • To preach good news to the poor
  • To bind up the broken-hearted
  • To proclaim freedom for the captives
  • And release from darkness for the prisoners

Because of the mission of Jesus, his death and resurrection, we have…

Joy and Sorrow and Joy

The Triumphant Entry to Jerusalem and the Suffering Servant.

Good afternoon friends. Have you ever felt a deep sadness while everybody round you is joyful?     For example, as a father and grandfather I wonder how I’d feel if the paediatrician told me that my new baby was profoundly deaf, for example.
