WOMEN’S RETREAT 2018 -Registration now open!

Dear Women’s Retreat Friends,

We eagerly anticipate a great time together at the 2018 Chiang Mai Women’s Retreat. The dates are 2 to 4 November at Horizon Village Resort.

This year our theme is “More than enough.”

“Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory…”Eph.3:20-21

We will delve into our theme by exploring the topics: God is enough, I am enough in Christ, We have enough in fellowship, and, We have enough to share.

Take this chance to experience time away from routine to engage in focused time with God, in community, and solitude.  This is always such a time of fun and blessing bringing together women of all backgrounds and churches and ages, from high school seniors on up.

Timetable and Registration

The retreat will begin with registration from 2 p.m. on Friday afternoon. There will be some optional afternoon activities before the evening meal at 6 p.m. The retreat will conclude with lunch on Sunday, with an option to stay for soaking prayer at 1.30 p.m.

Here is the link to the online registration form. Early bird registration closes on 21st October. Late registration with late fee closes on 28th October. Register online but payment should still be made ahead of time through your church/school rep or through the CMCC office. If you are living outside of Chiang Mai, you may pay on arrival.


The women’s retreat committee has planned a varied program for worship, fun, fellowship and learning. Our main speakers for the plenary sessions are Melanie Carey (Friday evening), Jessica Thomas (Saturday morning) and Esther Wakeman (Saturday evening and Sunday morning). Our worship times will be led by Debby Witmer and her team. The Fresh Expressions Art Room (led by Kit Ripley) will also be available during the retreat.

You will see the list of electives on the registration form. Description of the electives are below. Other activities include a personal meditation exercise, an afternoon tea and a disco dance led by Wendy Chamberlain.

Please note that the very popular craft sale is back this year at the retreat. The craft sale will be from 3.15 to 5.45 p.m. on Saturday. So bring money for shopping!

The resort offers lovely scenery, swimming, as well as bicycles and pedal boats for rent.

Whole Retreat

A “late bird” fee of 200 B is charged if you pay after 21st October (except if you are coming from outside Chiang Mai).

Shared room (2,700 B to be paid by 21st October) (All roommates need to present for the same nights.) Note: 3 persons to a room will still cost the same.

Single room (3,800 B to be paid by 21st October)

Partial Retreat

Friday pm through Saturday pm, leave before dinner (1,800 B) (1 night + breakfast, 2 meals, conference costs)

Friday pm through Saturday evening, leave after dinner (2100 B) (1 night + breakfast, 3 meals, conference costs)

Saturday (no breakfast) through Sunday (2100 B) (1 night + breakfast, 3 meals, conference costs)

From 2:30 p.m.     Fresh Expressions (Kit Ripley & Karen Block) Use the materials in our art room to respond to the weekend theme in writing, or art or craft – no talent required.

From 2:30 p.m.     Personal Garden Meditation (pick up instructions at the registration table)

Swimming/boating/cycling Use the venue facilities as you wish (small fee)

3.00 – 5.00 p.m.    Hand Massage (15 minutes per session, limited spaces, sign up when you arrive)

4:15 p.m.             Water Aerobics (Ruth Erickson) Bring your swim suit and get a workout!

Saturday Morning

 11.00 a.m.            Breakout Groups to discuss ideas from the plenary sessions

11.00 a.m.            Soaking Prayer (Esther Wakeman) Come to a softly lit, prayer-prepared space, lie down (bring a pillow if you like), quiet your body and spirit and open your heart to receive whatever the Lord has for you. Soft worship music will help focus on opening our spirits to God’s Spirit to bless as he pleases. A prayer team will move about ministering quietly and gently as the Lord leads. Come and go as you wish.

11.00 a.m.            Guided Meditation (Rachel Ford) Guided meditation considering “I am enough in Christ.”

Saturday Afternoon

1.30 p.m.             Making Home Away from Home (panel discussion facilitated by Caroline Armstrong) How do we make home when we are far away from it? How does it change as we navigate countries and different phases of life? Come and join a discussion on practical, emotional and spiritual tips for making home wherever you find yourself.

1.30 p.m.             Spiritual Exercises for All Ages (Ulrika Ernvik) God invites us to use our bodies, minds and hearts, our creativity and curiosity, and to be both still and active when we meet with Him. We will explore how we can pray with our bodies and in colors, how we can include worship time in our daily chores, how we can see ourselves in the Bible and Jesus in our daily life right now, and how we together with all ages can celebrate God´s presence with us.

1.30 p.m.             Am I Enough? (Liz Meister) Gaining practical awareness and understanding of yourself and key relationships through the lens of Enneagram personality typology

1.30 p.m.             Guided Meditation (Rachel Ford) Guided meditation considering “I am enough in Christ.” (repeat)

4.15 p.m.             Water Aerobics (Ruth Erickson)

4.15 p.m.             Ultimate Frisbee (Hanni Oppel) Join us for a fun game of Ultimate Frisbee. No previous experience or talent required!

4.15 p.m.             Zumba (Wendy Chamberlain) Zumba fitness class provides an exciting dance party atmosphere full of Latin and International music. You’ll forget you’re working out with the simple yet fun moves to dance music like Cha Cha, Salsa, Reggaeton, Cumbia and more. Best of all, you don’t need any previous dance experience! It is fun for all ages and fitness levels.

4.15 p.m.             Spiritual Exercises for All Ages (repeat) (Ulrika Ernvik)

Sunday Afternoon:

1:30-3:15 p.m.      Soaking Prayer (Esther Wakeman)

Graduating Seniors

As in previous years, we would like to encourage any graduating senior girls to attend the retreat with their moms.

There will be friendly faces in the registration area on Friday afternoon. Drop by to meet them, have some coffee, and get orientated to the retreat.
