Who we are
We are a multi-denominational international church that celebrates our unity amidst great diversity, so whatever your background or nationality we hope that you will be enriched by being a part of our fellowship. We routinely welcome visitors from around the world, and however long you plan to be here, we look forward to welcome you too.
For any people planning to settle here we would like to offer you our help and assistance with all that is involved in setting into a new location.
Many people in this community are involved in different ministries in the region and everyone comes with a wealth of very varied life experience, all of which holds the potential for a very colorful and interesting collection of people – that’s CMCC!
Our Church motto is: “embracing our world with the heart of God” and it is my hope and prayer that we will all find your worship together on Sunday fellowship times during the week to be an inspiration and an encouragement that helps us all in the work of the Kingdom of God.
Our history
CMCC was established in the early 1950’s by several missionary families who wanted to fellowship together in English and provide Sunday School for their children after they themselves had ministered to Thai churches in the morning. God blessed the work of the core group over the years; the small fellowship grew so well that they appointed their first pastor in 1958. By the early 1990’s nearly a hundred were meeting on Sunday afternoons at the McGilvary campus of Payap University. Later on, the church moved to meet in its current premises which we share with the First Thai Church on Charoenrat Road, near the Nawarat Bridge.
The work of the church had grown from the early days and now includes a Prison Ministry, a Resource Center, and a thriving youth work with full-time pastoral staff. At the same time as this change took place in Chiang Mai, Hong Kong was being handed back to China and many of the Christian organizations operating from there moved their offices here. The result was that an already growing fellowship nearly doubled in size within a very short period. Suddenly a church which had started so modestly was attracting up to 400 adults and 100 children in its early evening service.
Our mission
CMCC is an international congregation associated with the Network for International Congregations and a member of the first District of the Church of Christ of Thailand.
The mission of the Chiang Mai Community Church is to serve the English-speaking community and visitors in Chiang Mai through:
- Biblical exposition and teaching to help people come to God and to apply God’s Word to their lives
- Worship and fellowship together to deepen relationships with God and with each other
- Celebrating communion and baptism together as a church to demonstrate our obedience to Christ
- Interceding, petitioning and praising God in prayer to further the w ork of the Kingdom
- Reaching out in word and deed to share the truth and love of God
