When and Where we meet

We meet at 4:30 p.m. every Sundays at The First Church of Chiang Mai, situated on Charoenrat Road, near the Nawarat Bridge.

Our worship service usually runs for an hour and a half. If it is your first time with us, please stop at the visitors’ table and introduce yourself. Our children’s program is called JAM (Jesus And Me) and there is a table set up for that as well. Be sure to check it out!

Who we are

We are an English-speaking international multidenominational church that welcomes people of every background and nationality into our fellowship. We routinely have visitors from around the world, and however long you plan to be here, we look forward to welcoming you, too.

For any people planning to settle here, we would like to offer you our help and assistance with all that is involved in setting into a new location.

People in our community are involved in a variety of occupations and ministries and each one comes with a unique background and experience, all of which create a very colorful and interesting collection of people – that’s CMCC!

Our Church Vision:

“By God’s grace, Chiang Mai Community Church seeks to nurture disciples of Jesus who encounter God and one another, and are vibrant, refreshed, and equipped for loving service and outreach.”

Our Mission:

“CMCC’s purpose is to glorify God by knowing Him in community, growing in Christlikeness, and going to serve.”

Our Values:

  1. Community – We believe that loving relationships should permeate every aspect of church life. This includes concepts of integrity, transparency, and mutual respect. (1 Corinthians 13; John 13:34–35)
  2. Discipleship – We believe that the pursuit of full devotion to Christ and His cause is normal for every believer. This includes concepts of Christlikeness and growth in the areas of worship, faith, and obedience. (Rom 8:29; 2 Cor 3:18; 1 John 3:2; Eph 4:11-13)
  3. Scriptures – We believe that submission to, the study of, and obedience to the Word of God should be the foundation of every individual, family, and Church community. This includes concepts of private devotion, corporate learning, and anointed preaching. (2 Timothy 3:16–17)
  4. Unity in Diversity – We believe that the Gospel of Jesus Christ has the power to unite believers of all ages, ‘from every tribe and language and people and nation.’ This includes concepts of corporate worship, focused outreach, balanced learning, and sacrificial loving. (John 17:20-23; Acts 2:42-47; Rev 5:9)

Our history

Chiang Mai Community Church (CMCC) was established in the early 1950s by several missionary families who wanted to fellowship together in English and provide Sunday School for their children after they themselves had ministered to Thai churches in the morning. God blessed the work of the core group over the years; the small fellowship grew so well that they appointed their first pastor in 1958. By the early 1990s, nearly a hundred were meeting on Sunday afternoons at the McGilvary campus of Payap University. Later on, the church moved to meet in its current premises which we share with the First Thai Church on Charoenrat Road, near the Nawarat Bridge.
The work of the church had grown from the early days and now includes a Prison Ministry and thriving youth work with the full-time pastoral staff. At the same time as this change took place in Chiang Mai, Hong Kong was being handed back to China and many of the Christian organizations operating from there moved their offices here. The result was that an already growing fellowship nearly doubled in size within a very short period. Suddenly a church that had started so modestly was attracting up to 400 adults and 100 children in its early evening service. Pre-Covid we regularly have about 300 adults attending our regular Sunday worship services, and about 50 children attending the JAM (Jesus And Me) program.
